PATAGONIA CHANGES THE NANO PUFF FOR GOOD WITH ALL-NEW PRIMALOFT GOLD INSULATION ECO

Patagonia’s Nano Puff styles now have a lighter environmental impact and the same pinnacle performance benefits that have made the Nano Puff a go-to-piece for every outdoor activity. While it’s not easy to lighten the environmental impact of a technical piece like the Nano Puff without sacrificing performance, Patagonia challenged its partners at PrimaLoft to help. The result – PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco – is eco-friendly, premium synthetic insulation made with 55% recycled content.

This holiday season, I have an early New Year’s resolution for the sake of Planet Earth: let’s all become radical environmentalists.

This sounds like a big leap – but it’s not. All you need is a sewing kit and a set of repair instructions.

Update: PETA's Wool Video

Update: PETA's Wool Video

We’ve spent the past several days looking deep into our wool supply chain, shocked by the disturbing footage of animal cruelty that came to light last week. Patagonia’s partnership with Ovis XXI has long been a source of pride because of the program’s genuine commitment to regenerating the grassland ecosystem, but this work must come equally with respectful and humane treatment of the animals that contribute to this endeavor.

PETA's Wool Video

PETA has shown us video footage from within the Ovis XXI farm network that supplies merino wool for Patagonia’s baselayers and insulation. You can watch it here. It is as disturbing as anything PETA puts out. Four minutes long, the video contains graphic footage depicting inhumane treatment of lambs and sheep; of castration; of tail docking (the removal of a sheep’s tail); and slaughter of lambs for their meat. We’ll go into detail below.

Patagonia marks 20 years in NYC with activism and free repairs in a new shop on Greene Street

After 20 years at 101 Wooster St, Patagonia’s first New York retail space has moved two blocks to 72 Greene, a space long dubbed the “King of Greene Street.” Originally a warehouse belonging to the dry goods dealer Gardner Colby Company, its three dimensional iron façade is considered the finest example of French Renaissance and Second Empire style in the entire district. In honor of such magnificence, and in celebration of the brand’s two decades in New York City, Patagonia has poured effort and attention into building an impeccable retail experience and space for community environmental activism at 72 Greene St. Read more about our new shop's features!
