A note to media from Tessa Byars, Patagonia’s new PR manager

I am writing to introduce myself as Patagonia’s new PR and Communications Manager. I’ll be focused on stories about Patagonia’s great products, the people behind those products, our incredible ambassadors and other sports and lifestyle related pieces.

I have been working in the outdoor industry in many capacities since 2001. Most recently I worked at Verde Brand Communications where I managed PR and communications for outdoor brands. Prior to Verde, I freelanced as a marketing consultant, writer and web editor for adventure companies, guided on rivers all over the U.S. and worked in ski shops selling outdoor gear and apparel, including Patagonia. In my free time, I love being outdoors kayaking, surfing, road and mountain biking, running, climbing, backpacking and skiing depending on the season. I’m happy to be living in Ventura and love having the Pacific Ocean in my backyard!

I’m especially excited to be working as part of a great team at Patagonia, led by Adam Fetcher, our Director of Global PR & Communications, who continues to manage stories involving business, enviro, policy and corporate issues. Corey Simpson will be working with Adam and me on product stories of all kinds, especially surf and snow.

I am looking forward to working with you in my new role. Feel free to reach out to me anytime at tessa.byars@patagonia.com.
